Join the Knitting Circle for Mitzvah Day, Sun afternoons, starting Jan. 14, 3-5pm in the Gold Wing Lobby.  We’ll provide the yarn & some needles (or bring your own), and you can Learn to Knit or just knit & chat as we make warm hats and scarves for migrants and other homeless neighbors. Kids and grown ups are welcome!

  • Support migrants, refugees and neighbors experiencing homelessness
    • Knit/donate hats & scarves – Donate & sort winter coats & blankets – Assemble toiletry Care Kits
  • Support neighbors experiencing food insecurity
    • Bring non-perishable foods in carts we’ll deliver to the Fort Fridge
  • Support our Earth
    • Attend a workshop for adults on climate justice advocacy in NY state
    • Attend story time & workshop for kids about caring for our planet
  • Support voting rights & reproductive rights
    • Write to our representatives about issues that matter

10am to 12:45pm:

  • Kids’ Care Kit Assembly Line
  • Winter Outerwear/Blanket Sorting/Bagging
  • Art Projects for Kids on Repairing the World
  • Receiving Food Donations for Fort Fridge
  • Advocacy Letters, NY Equal Rights/Reprod. Rts. Amendment Pledge
  • Knitting Circle for hats/scarves

Special Events:

11am-12pm

  • Adult Workshop on Reform Jewish NY Climate Justice Campaign
  • Early Childhood Story time (1/2 hour)

12pm-1pm

  • Elementary Fruits of the Earth Workshop & Story Time (3-4th grade)
  • Adult Orientation to Reclaim Our Vote postcard campaign for voting rights

12:45pm

  • Food Caravan with Carts & Kids to the Fort Fridge (181 St/Ft Wash Ave)
  • Car Caravan with Care Kits & Winter clothes/blankets to Uptown Wagon volunteers’ homes (131st & 137th Streets)
