Join us in celebrating Cantor Sandy Horowitz's retirement

Dear Hebrew Tabernacle and Beth Am communities,

Saturday, June 15th and Friday, June 28th will be special shabbat services for our congregations to honor Cantor Sandy Horowitz on the occasion of her retirement. Cantor Horowitz has been a much-loved service leader for Beth Am for many years, first as a lay leader, and then in an ongoing professional role since her ordination as a cantor a decade ago.

On Saturday morning, June 15th, Mark Kross, the accompanist for Beth Am’s High Holy Day services, will join us on the piano for shabbat services at 10 a.m. at Hebrew Tabernacle and on zoom.

On Friday evening, June 28th, Rabbi Paula Feldstein and Cantor Horowitz will co-lead a Kabbalat Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m. at Hebrew Tabernacle and on Zoom.

We are planning a special dessert kiddush and presentation after the June 28th evening service, and Trudi Cohen is coordinating the arrangements. Please email her at trudi25@yahoo.com if you would like to bring something.

Please consider making a contribution in honor of Cantor Horowitz. You can send a check or donate via PayPal.  You can find information about making a donation on

Beth Am‘s contributions webpage: https://beth-amthepeoplestemple.squarespace.com/contributions

Margot Fein is compiling a booklet of tribute messages to present to Cantor Horowitz after the June 28 service. Please email your message to BethAmWaHi@gmail.com with the Subject line: Tribute.

We hope we will see many of you in person on June 15th and June 28th to celebrate Cantor Horowitz and wish her well.  As always, we look forward to having those of you who cannot be together with us in person join us on Zoom.
